British style apple cake. Instead of dusting apples with sugar as directed, you can simmer the apples in syrup or cook them with sugar until caramelized. You can also substitute fresh apples with canned apples.

Dice apple into 2 cm pieces. Toss them with a little sugar and rum. (Photo #1)

In a bowl, combine sugar and egg. Beat well. (Photo #1)

Add flour and mix well.

Stir in melted butter, then the apple.¡ÊPhoto #2¡Ë

Have a deep baking pan (such as a pound cake mold) ready. Pour the mixture into the mold to a depth of 3 cm. Bake in preheated oven at 180 ¡ëC (356 ¡ëF) for about 30 minutes. If the surface turns brown but the center is still not done, cover with foil and continue baking.
